All our instructors go through years of training to achieve the high standards of our schools and the I.T.F. Instructors have passed the requirements of their Black Belt level as well as the Schools Instructor program. In the I.T.F. system a 1st,2nd and 3rd Dan Black Belt is qualified as an assistant instructor and a 4th ,5th or 6th Dan must first qualify for the International Instructor Certification before testing students and at the 4th dan Black Belt level the rank of instructor is approved. All Black Belts in the Thompson Valley Taekwon-Do Schools are under the guidence of a 4th dan instructor. This assures that the schools teaching quality is kept up at all our Schools and branch schools. Your instructors are as dedicated to learning as the
students under them.
Our first school opened in September of 1987, in Barriere BC, under the name Barriere Taekwon-Do Club. In 1989 our instructor, Mr. Gill moved to the Coast for work, returning in late 1991. Shortly after returning to Barriere Mr. Gill became the head instructor for the Kamloops Taekwon-Do Club and remained there until 1997 when the club changed ownership. Mr. Gill then opened the Thompson Valley Taekwon-Do School in Barriere.
The School headquarters were moved to Kamloops in Late 2001 and is presently located at 1278-B Dalhousie Drive, and has branch schools in Barriere, Logan Lake, Merrit and Kelowna. Our schools have remained as strong supporters of the International Taekwon-Do Federation and the original style of Taekwon-Do as created by the Founder General Choi Hong Hi.
Our history follows the same path as our Instructor the path of Taekwon-Do and is growing year by year in the Central Interior.
